What is worth monitoring
A check made when a record is created says nothing about what happens afterwards. The changes that matter for a customer or supplier are few:
- the status: the company goes from active to closed;
- insolvency proceedings: safeguard, reorganisation or liquidation (see How to tell if a French company is in judicial liquidation);
- the name, address or legal form, which change the mentions to put on your invoices;
- the sanctions check, whose status can change.
How monitoring works
You add companies to your list. The state saved at that moment is the reference: no event is created for the past. After that, every difference detected becomes an event, for example company.status_changed or company.address_changed, with the value before and after. You read it with GET /v2/events or receive it on your webhook.
curl -X PUT "https://api.jsonpage.com/v2/monitors/FR-552032534" \
-H "X-API-Key: $JSONPAGE_API_KEY"
The response is 201 if the company is added, 200 if it already was. To stop, send DELETE to the same address.
E-mail, webhook or dashboard
- E-mail: immediate or grouped alerts, set up in the customer area.
- Webhook: one HTTPS address per account receives each event as a
POST, signed with a secret that you keep. Verify the signature before processing the event; the method and code samples are in the documentation. - Reading:
GET /v2/eventsreturns events from oldest to newest, with a cursor to resume where you stopped. They stay readable for 90 days.
If your server is down, nothing is lost: read the events again from your last cursor.
Limits by plan
The number of monitored companies depends on the plan: 2 (Discovery), 1,000 (Standard) or 10,000 (Pro). Beyond that, adding returns 403 monitor_limit_reached; you are warned by e-mail at 80% and 100% of the limit, and the companies already followed stay monitored. Importing a file in the dashboard adds companies up to the limit and tells you how many were skipped.
Information is only known once published: a very recent change may not appear yet. Monitoring helps decisions; it replaces neither legal advice nor a solvency analysis.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to write code to monitor companies?+
No. You can add companies and read alerts from the customer area, or use the API if you prefer to automate.
Am I told about a change that happened before I added the company?+
No. The state saved at the time of adding is the reference; only later changes create events.
Are webhooks charged?+
No, they are included in every plan and their deliveries do not count as requests.
What if my server does not answer?+
Read the events again with GET /v2/events from your last cursor: they stay available for 90 days.
